The prestige of British universities continues to ascend as a record six British universities are ranked in the top twenty universities throughout the world.
The well-regarded rankings from QS World University Ranks gave nearly half of the top ten placing’s to UK universities with Cambridge University ranking highest at number three, while another three UK universities, University College London, Imperial College London and Oxford University filled the next three places accordingly.
Just missing out on the top ten were two British universities who have now made their first appearance in the top 20; the University of Edinburgh rose from 21st last year to 17th, while Kings College London jumped 7 places from last year’s table to reach 19th.
Overall there were a total of eight UK universities in the top fifty and eighteen in the top 100; it is also notable that 17 of these universities are members of the prestigious Russell group.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was voted as the world’s number one university and the United States in total had 31 universities inside the top fifty.
